The
Rialto String Quartet was founded in 2002.
The group, featuring Mark Pagnozzi (violin), Akhil Chandra
(violin), Blair Nicholson (viola), and Sean Woodcock (violoncello) was
initially a school quartet in 2000. The
Year 8 String Quartet became the Year Nine String Quartet and then in
2002, after experiencing several weddings and special functions, the group
decided to form its own name. The name Rialto, is
representative of the arc that the Rialto Bridge in Italy forms.
This group,
featuring mainly of 16 year olds, has experienced many highlights in its
short period including weddings ranging from Sandalford Wines to Matilda
Bay to Cottesloe Civic Centre. It
has had the privilege of performing at the opening of art galleries and
the Hale Music and Drama Centre as well as playing at the Liz Davenport
Fashion Evening performed at Rendezvous.
The group has been intent on paving the path for young people
throughout Western Australia as they have performed at the prestigious York Music
Festival and for the Strings in the
Valley festival.
The
Rialto String Quartet charges $320 for the first hour and then $250 for
every hour thereafter. (Prices may be higher depending on your
distance away from the metropolitan area). However, we do ask you
that you let the group know about any bookings at least one month prior to
the date of the event. This way, we ensure that bookings can be
made.
